[Heart, well, she has been trying to do her best for the users since this tragedy started. That would mean anyone who has been paying any attention to her as probably seen that she's not eaten anything since this started. Nor drank anything; best to leave supplies for the people that need it after all. Or at least, programing dictates that she ought to as best she can figure out - really there isn't much she's programmed to do in a situation like this. She's not a disaster response robot or anything.

Thus, she's taken to wandering around the town, looking to see if there's anything she can help with over the last few days. However, today, she's come across something- odd. In glancing over the southernmost bridge in the village into the water she looks at her reflection and sees... Well, she's initially confused as to what it is but then the realization hits her that it's her.

Reflected in the water isn't her as she is now, but a reflection of something that should be impossible: a red haired and green little girl, two years old at best, smiling in the reflection back at her own impassive face. Heart isn't sure if she should be surprised or not so she just keeps staring and even does some experimental movement to see if the young phantom moves with her. When it does she keeps this up to see if it continues... and it does.

Now, anyone care to run across her while this happens? Or perhaps after as she sets into the river, despite the oddness of that, to see if there's any sort of projector in there]

[From where he's standing, all Sokka can see is Heart making a fool of herself in front of the water, making silly motions at her reflection (that he can't see) for no reason. He ends up laughing out loud at her antics. This is not what he's come to expect from the super polite Heart.]

[Laughing at loud? Heart turns and- well, when she sees Sokka mode one takes over and she's actually briefly flustered. Not in an extreme way, per say, more in a she feels a little silly. She smiles, blushing a little and puts on a sheepish smile]

Glad to see you in such high spirits.

[That comment succeeds in sobering him, since this is pretty obviously not the right time to be laughing at anything. He ends up rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly instead.]

Uh, yeah. [He takes a step closer, nearing the point he can look in the water.] Did you lose something down there?

No. I thought I saw something, that's all. [This is her trying to dismiss that... but not so much rudely, of course. Tactful. Not that she'll refuse the topic if he pursues it. ...But a little bit of a chiding maybe]

Oh. [He looks down in the water... and sees his own reflection.]

I don't see anything. [He hasn't quite had that experience for himself.]

Really? [And she looks... to see her reflection as well. But normal this time. Hm] Suppose it was a trick of the light.

[He glances over at her curiously.] What did you see?

A little girl, actually.

[That little smile returns to glance back at him] I hadn't seen her before.

... uh huh. A little girl. [The skepticism is all over his face.] And what did she look like?

Her hair was a similar color to mine - I actually thought she might be me for a moment. [She laughs, just a little at her own expense as she runs a finger through her bangs to get one stray one out of his eyes]

She had a darling face.

You know, maybe it was you. [Because who else could it be? Jeez.]

Yeah, I could just be being silly, couldn't I?

Yeah, probably. [He glances back at his own reflection. For a second, it seems like there's something odd about it, but a few ripples caused by the tumbling rocks from him shifting his position distorts the image. He shakes his head to clear his head. That was weird.]

[There will be a hand shooting out to grab Heart by the collar and physically lift her out of the river before she gets too far into it for it to be dangerous. Because Arumat totally doesn't have protective instincts. Not at all.]

[Despite minor injuries from the earthquake, Mitsuru is out and about. When she notices Heart in front of the river, she just observes the girl quietly for a while. At least until she starts venturing into the water; that's when Mitsuru decides to speak up.]

I don't think this is a very good time for a swim.

[...what in the world is that girl doing? Is she okay?]

Excuse me? Did you lose something?

A-are you alright, my lady?

[Merlin has taken to addressing all strangers with a form of hyper-formal speech. Apparently, you never know when you might be speaking to someone very important

He approaches the riverside just as she begins to step into it.]

[...Heart puts a look of concern on her face briefly, but decides not to press it for now. Instead, she takes a step back from Sokka, keeping eye contact or something close to it]

Would you mind if I asked what you're up to?

Huh? [He glances at her confused, then realizes she didn't mean currently.]

I was going to check on the smithy. I haven't been there since the quake.

[...!!! She turns and- blushes instantly at noticing that it's Arumat]

What the- what're you doing you olf?!

[Complete with struggling in this grip]

[Turn and- when she does her face goes blank and-]

Do you want to be loved?

[She instantly stops her splashing at the unfamiliar voice. She turns to Merlin and when she does her face is expressionless. That means, of course, protocol takes over-]

[Not fully in the water yet, Heart turns to Mitsuru and - it's a new face and voice. Scans say it's within age so... protocol-]

Do you want to be loved? [With a very blank look and flat tone]

[Yuzu's not been having a good time, what with losing her apartment then having to deal with Naoya. She'd like nothing more but to find someplace with air conditioning and a shower and forget about this week but that wasn't happening, not with that guy still running around and maybe throwing more COMPs around. So instead she's doing a half-hearted kind of patrol when she sees Heart staring at the river. Her nosier instincts kick in.]
